Wow been a while. Focus of my site has changed. Have been selling cameras and used photo equipment on ebay. Doing quite well at it.
Just cancelled my Sellathon subscription though. Not sure what’s going on over there - supposedly hardware upgrades and new tracking code. I actually liked the service, despite some recent service issues. And the fact that at the end of each month, they debited my paypal account and then disabled my account - three months in a row. I sent in a ticket and their support promptly corrected the issue.

But now when I try to login I’m taken directly their their forums. And when someone clicks on the counter in a listing to view my other items they see a ‘Kick It Back’ squeeze page, promoting whatever service this is. Oh, and apparently the seller’s most popular items gallery is going away. I put the new code in one of my auctions and again get a Kick It Back ad. And all the fancy counter gizmos are also gone, replaced by a non-configurable single digit counter.

So what gives? I would expect ads and service changes to a FREE service. But their service is not free. And during all these changes, NO COMMUNICATION TO THEIR USERS WHATSOEVER. This is not how to run a business.  I’ve done many complex service migrations at my previous employer and this is not how it’s done. Their project manager should be fired immediately.

Here’s my guess - they’ve been purchased by another company (Kick It Back?) and are integrating their service into the new company’s systems. Stripping the service down and cross promoting the other company’s services. Maybe that’s what’s going on, maybe not. Whatever it is, I have cancelled my subscription, removed their code from all my listings and signed up with Vendio instead.  And I suspect that many others are doing the same. As I now have an ebay store I don’t even need the service but would happily have continued using them if they handled this transition more professionally, or at the very least, communicated with their members. They have my email address.
